Please note: Effective August 25, 2009 I am no longer contracting with Pro-active IT Management in Edmonton. It was my choice. Yes I am still in business, still have the same contact information but have chosen to go solo.
That Said:
What if you were told that by following a few simple rules you can:
- Reduce downtime to near zero percent.
- greatly lower IT costs.
- remain virtually virus free, and not because of antivirus software.
- receive less spam.
- have more uptime and fewer problems.
- Greatly reduce the chance of having a security breach
The fact is, many of these rules cost nothing for you to implement.
Fact: The government of Canada is now holding you responsible and accountable for the information you choose to hold on your clients and employees. You must do everything in your power to keep it safe.
Fact: A virus infection for the average business is a gauranteed hack. Many small businesses are using cheap, off the shelf firewalls and these offer no outbound protection and do little to protect you and your business. They are offered for home users and should be used as such.
Fact: Many enterprise level firewalls, though expensive, are not properly configured and offer no protection.
Fact: Many companies are facing unnecessary downtime and production loss due to server problems, virus infections, spam emails, employee surfing habits etc.
Fact: Many companies don't know exactly what information they hold on people in general. Even worse, they don't understand the implications of losing that information to a hacker or anybody that can use it to gain access to identity theft.
Fact: Many companies do not know if their security is up to par and protecting them. Internet isn't monitored, employees have free access. This places your network into a "high risk" category.
Fact: Many small businesses are getting hacked daily and don't even know it. If you're going to suffer a security breach, chances are good that an employee inadvertantly caused it.The fact is, many businesses rely solely on what they are being told. This is not acceptable.
